Eligibility Criteria / Entry Requirements
An applicant for admission to the First Year B.Sc. Nursing Course shall:
i. Have attained or shall attain the age of 17 years on the day of admission to the college prescribed by Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik.
ii. Have passed 12th standard (10+2) / Higher Secondary School Certificate Examination of Maharashtra State Board or any other examination recognized as equivalent examinations by the University, consisting of Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany, Zoology) and English.
iii. Be physically and mentally fit for admission.
iv. Have obtained not less than 50% of the total marks at the qualifying examination in Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English taken together. However the applicant belonging to back ward classes must have secured not less than 40% at the qualifying examination in the said subjects taken together.
v. Have passed qualifying examinations at one and the same attempt i.e. an applicant who passes the examination in parts will not be held eligible.
vi. The each academic year should consist of 240 teaching / clinical days. -
To impart quality nursing education and prepare competent, caring and compassionate nursing professionals who will adhere to the code of ethics and professional conduct while fulfilling their personal, social and professional obligations in the course of their practice

On completion of B.Sc. Nursing degree programme the graduates will be able to:
- Demonstrate competency in the skills and techniques of nursing based on concepts and principles.
- Assess the health status, identify and prioritize the nursing needs, plan, implement and evaluate care of the patients in the hospital and community.
- Assume leadership roles as first level managers in nursing services and nursing education.
- Recognize the need for continued learning for personal and professional enhancement.
- Update oneself with the latest technology, trends and issues in health care.
- Conduct need based research studies in the hospital / community and utilize the research findings to improve the quality of nursing care.
- Practice within the framework of the code of ethics and professional conduct and ensure acceptable standards of practice.
- Collaborate with the other members of the health care team in reaching realistic health goals.
Communicate effectively with the members of the health care team and develop good interpersonal skills for team work.

Course: First year Basic B.Sc. Nursing
- Anatomy & Physiology:At the end of the course the students will be able to:
- Describe the general structure and functions of the body as a whole.
- Describe the general and microscopic structure and functions of each system of the body.
- Explain the macroscopic and microscopic structure and functions of each organs of the body.
- Understand the effects of alterations in structures and functions of as whole.
- Apply the knowledge of anatomy and physiology in the practice of nursing.
- Nutrition & Biochemistry: At the end of the course the students will be able to
- To understand the concept of nutrition & health.
- Understand different types of nutrients, their importance, sources, functions and problems due to deficiency.
- To plan balanced diet for individuals and groups.
- Plan menu efficiently.
- Explain methods of effective cooking and food preservation.
- Apply the principles of food preparation in the practical field effectively
- Nursing Foundations:At the end of the course students will be able to develop
- Knowledge on concept of health, health-illness continuum and health care delivery system.
- Knowledge on scope of nursing practice.
- Knowledge on concept, theories and models of nursing practice.
- Desirable attitude to ethics and professional conduct.
- Skill in communicating effectively with patients and families and team members to maintain effective human relations.

- Microbiology:At the end of the course students will be able to develop
- Explain concepts and principles of microbiology and their importance in nursing.
- Understand the opportunistic and pathogenic organisms of human body and describe host parasite relationship.
- State the sources and modes of transmission of pathogenic and opportunistic organisms including vectors and their role in transmission of diseases.
- Be conversant with proper methods of collection, storage and transport of clinical material for microbiological investigations.
- Understand the principles of immunology and its application in the diagnosis and prevention of infectious diseases.
- English:At the end of the course students will be able to
- Develop good vocabulary skills or better communication.
- Effectively communicates with patients while rendering care.
- Understands methods of writing and drafting letters in English.
- To plan and write effective nursing process and records.
- Introduction to Computers:After the completion of the course, students will able to:

Course: Second year Basic B.Sc. Nursing
- Sociology:After the completion of the course, students will able to:
- Describe the structure and the dynamics of the society
- Discuss the relationship of the individual to the society.
- Understand the social problems and its influence on social changes and the factors contributing to it.
- Describe sociological concepts applicable to nursing.
- Determine role of sociology in nursing as related to social institution in India

- Medical Surgical Nursing (Adult Including Geriatrics) – IAfter the completion of the course, students will able to:
- Describe the causes, signs and symptoms, treatment and prevention of medical surgical conditions.
- Demonstrate skill in carrying out nursing techniques and procedures in keeping with scientific principles.
- Discuss nursing process and provide nursing care to patients with various medical surgical conditions.
- Pharmacology:After the completion of the course, students will able to:

- Appreciate the concept and scope of demography

- Communication & Education Technology:After the completion of the course, students will able to:
- Understand the effective communication process using various communication techniques with individuals groups and health team members.
- Establishes effective interpersonal and human relations with patients, families and health team members.
- Acquires knowledge on concepts, principles on guidance and counselling and develop basic skills for counselling patients, nursing students and nursing personnel.
- Understand the philosophy, principles of education and teaching learning process.
- Demonstrate teaching skills using various teaching methods in classroom, clinical and community setup using different methods and media.
- Demonstrate skill in preparing different types of assessment tools for knowledge attitude and skill.
Course: Third Year Basic B.Sc. Nursing
- Medical Surgical Nursing- II:After the completion of the course, students will able to:
- Provide care for patients with disorders of ear nose and throat.
- Take care of patients with disorders of eye.
- Plan, implement and evaluate nursing management of patients with neurological disorders.
- Develop abilities to take care of female patients with reproductive disorders.
- Provide care of patients with burns, reconstructive and cosmetic surgery.
- Manage patients with oncological conditions
- Develop skill in providing care during emergency and disaster situations
- Plan, implement and evaluate care of elderly
- Develop ability to manage patients in critical care units.
- Child Health Nursing:After the completion of the course, students will able to:
- Explain the modern concept of child care and the principles of child health nursing.
- Describe the normal growth and development of children in various age groups.
- Explain the physiological response of body to disease conditions in children.
- Identify the health needs and problems of neonates and children, plan and implement appropriate nursing interventions

- Mental Health Nursing:After the completion of the course, students will able to:

- Midwifery and Obstetrical Nursing:After the completion of the course, students will able to:
- Describe the normal pregnancy, labour and peurperium and demonstrate the application of knowledge and skill in giving need –based care.
- Demonstrate safe management of all stages of labour.
- Identify the high risk factor during pregnancy, labour and peurperium as well as neonates and take appropriate interventions.
- Motivate the mother for care of the baby and adapting family planning methods to maintain small family norms.
- Prepare the mothers for self care during the pregnancy, labour and peurperium.

- Community Health Nursing- II:After the completion of the course, students will able to:
- Understand the concepts, scope, principles and historical development of community health and community health nursing.
- Appreciate the national health planning, polices, problems.
- Describe the system of delivery of community health services in rural and urban area.
- Develop understanding about community health nursing approaches, concepts and roles and responsibilities of nursing personnel.
- Participate in assisting individuals and groups to promote and maintain their health.
- Appreciate the national health and family welfare programme and the role of the nurse.
- Understand the health agencies at the international and national level.
- Management of Nursing Services and Education:After the completion of the course, students will able to:

- Nursing Research and Statistics:After the completion of the course, students will able to:

- Locate and list sources of literature review including operational definitions and conceptual framework.
- Describe different approaches and research designs in nursing research.
- Describe sample and sampling technique.
- Develop tool for data collection.
- Conduct pilot study to confirm reliability and validity of tool before data collection
- To enumerate steps of data analysis and present data summary.
- Use descriptive and co- relational statistics in data analysis.
- Conduct group project and write report.
